Pair 1920's Fortuny with a brick red ground applied with an interlaced climbing leaf motif, intertwining chestnut branches, taken from a 15th century Italian Renaissance design in an olive green. The fabric is a tightly woven cotton twill. Backed in copper colored silk velvet, edged with a bronze colored metal cord from Germany.
You get subtle color saturation throughout Fortuny pieces due to the fact these fabrics were hand printed and would have had different pressure applied to the stamp. These highs and lows of color are what Fortuny is most known for in his designs.
Condition: One small burn mark that has been patched otherwise excellent antique condition.
