Pair of Spanish mid to late 18th century Solomonic or barley sugar twist columns with spiral shaped shafts, common in nature, with carved, painted and gilt leaves and seedpods. The vines represent the Holy Communion of bread and wine. All carved from one piece of walnut wood. Due to their size and light decoration these columns were more than likely used in the front of an altar in a small church. The backside of these columns has been left unadorned giving further evidence that these were one used on an altar as they never decorated the backsides for churches in order to save money since people never saw the backs. The bases are not original and date from the 19th century.

Condition: Antique wear consistent with age, worm holes and age crack

Shipping: These columns will be delivered via White Glove Delivery that could take up to three (3) weeks for delivery. Will ship Continental USA only.
