An
Italian, second half of 16th century, silk damask wall hanging most probably
from
Lucca. Made from several joined panels of a deep forest green, the pattern,
a central
floral motif with an ogival network of leaves, flowers and crowns. Edged
in a 18th
century copper metal fringe trim, backed in a copper silk taffeta. (For
a similar fabric
in a different colorway, please see TX01N on textile page one.) |
