A
stunning Art Nouveau, circa 1890 – 1905, French table cover featuring
flowers and highly stylized curvilinear forms so characteristic of the
period. A
ground of green satin the flowers and vines are worked in a heavy mat
of gold
with the center of flowers in an orange silk and highlights of red on
the metallic
mat, all finished off with a small metallic cord edging. Finished around
the edges
with a green silk fringe that has a red geometric border, each corner
with a
metallic knot motif tassel, padded and backed with a coordinating light
green
cotton.
Condition: In stunning condition but the metallic mat is starting to tarnish
which is
tyical of a metal thread. |
