An American
handmade quilt, circa 1890 in an old pattern called “turkey tracks”.
This originally was
purchased from Laura Fisher quilts and antiques in New York City, a
leading quilt expert. Appliquéd in blue and white, the blue in
the pattern is slightly faded from age, more of a lovely sky blue. The
blue
binding/edge might be a replacement because it's slightly darker then
the pattern on the quilt. There are 7-
8 stitches to the inch and all beautifully hand done, nice even stitching.
In the white blocks there are hand
stitched flowers and along the border a sort of twining motif. This
is a summer weight quilt but still heavy
enough for cool nights with a cotton batting. |
