A double-sided
continental pillow, the front is French, circa 1730’s, brocaded
silk damask depicting sprays
of flower. The flowers employ six different colors of silk and gold metal
thread that is now showing the
yellow silk thread it was wound around all on a deep coral ground. The
back is Italian, circa 1650, green
silk damask depicting individual stylized flowers. Both sides are edged
with a 19th century French gold
metallic trim depicting grape bunches, grape leaves, wheat sheaves and
maple leaves. The insert is 100%
pure down for added softness. Perfect for a bed or sofa, you get two pillows
in one since you can use either
side. Condition: The front is
pieced in two pieces, which is typical of something well over 250 years
old since
the fabric more then likely came from a court gown.
