Fortuny
was known for his love of the pomegranate design and this pillow
features one example inspired by a 15th century Italian design. This is
Fortunys’
“Veronese” pattern and has no formal description but depicts
horizontal rows of
lobate palmettes, artichokes and pomegranates. The design is a light gold
metallic with a warm French brown overlay. Backed with Italian brown silk
velvet that shimmers with gold, finished on the sides with a 19th century
light
gold metallic fringe. (2
